Think of any famous business. Maybe you thought of Google, Amazon or even PepsiCo. Now, think of a famous business CEO. You may have thought of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Cuban or even Donald Trump. These people encompass strong business qualities and characteristics, such as grit, leadership and intellect. Perhaps these individuals grew up in a business-oriented home or received their parents’ highly esteemed and booming corporation. Perhaps they had to learn on their own, the cold, hard, but rewarding, ways of business. Either way, they made their mark on the business world and have created their own success.
This year, the FBLA group went to the national FBLA convention in St. Louis, Mo., on Nov. 10-12. Unlike the national FFA convention, FBLA’s convention did not include any competitions. However, it was exclusive to only FBLA officers and their sponsor. The 2017-2018 officers are senior Haley Smith, president; senior Carson Zenger, vice president and Student Council Representative; junior Allie Jensen, secretary; senior Skyler White, treasurer; and junior Spencer Dugan, public relations.
The crew was ready and excited to embark for this trip.
“My favorite part of the trip was the opening and closing speakers,” Smith said. “They had motivational speakers that focused on how to translate the leadership skills that you learned in the conference to everyday life back at your hometown.”
This was the first time that FBLA from Rock Creek went to the national convention. At the convention, there were keynote speakers, leadership seminars, workshops and a dance.
“The FBLA conference was good,” Zenger said. “The best part was the dance. It was fun. That’s all I’m going to say. It was pretty fun.”
