Features: Q & A with freshman Mitch Bissen

Do you have any siblings at Rock Creek?

“Reid Bissen. He is a senior.”

Do you play any sports?

“Yes, I play football, basketball and baseball.”

Which sport is your favorite?

“I would definitely say baseball, because that is what I am best at.”

What position do you play in each of your sports?

“In football, I play corner and maybe a little running back sometimes. In baseball, on my travel team, I played outfield. Sometimes, I pitched, and I caught a little, too. For basketball, I am a guard. If I get taller, I could be a post.”

What hobbies do you have outside of school?

“I like to hang out with my friends. We drive around in trucks. I also like to fish, mostly for bass. I sometimes go with my family, but usually I go with my friends. [Freshman] Evan Allen has a pond that we usually go to. The heaviest bass I ever caught was three and a half pounds.”

What clubs are you involved in?

“I am in debate. It is going okay, but I am not very good at it yet.”

What has been the biggest transition from junior high to high school?

“There is a lot more freedom in high school; it is less structured than junior high, which was not as fun.”

What is your favorite class this year?

“I would say advisor, because advisor is really fun, and it is not an actual class and you can just do whatever.”

What is your least favorite class?

“English, by far. I understand and like math a lot more.”

What are you looking forward to most in high school?

“I am looking forward to being a senior and having a bunch more freedom and things I can do, and I also can’t wait to graduate.”

If you could give advice to an eighth grader about high school, what would you say?

“Don’t procrastinate.”
