“You can breathe. You can blink. You can cry.”
“The Walking Dead” season premiere is finally out. “Walking Dead” fans have been waiting all summer for Season 7 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” and they got what they wanted. Some fans say it was worth the wait, but I think differently.
The episode started very slowly, but picked up when two characters were inevitably killed. I thought this part was great because it really increased the suspense by not revealing who had died right away. If they had revealed the deaths right at the start, I would not have kept watching.
I also liked how the episode kept up the intensity with more threats towards the lives of the main characters. It kept me on the edge of my seat because I did not know what would happen next. Although I was impressed with the action of the season opener, I did not like the episode overall.
The factor that really hurt the episode, in my opinion, was the break in between the end of Season 6 and the start of Season 7. Season 6 ended with a huge cliffhanger that left fans guessing, but the break lasted too long. I lost my curiosity and was not satisfied when the season opener finally aired.
I think that the writers could have done two solutions. They could have made the break in between seasons shorter, or they could have revealed the major event at the end of Season 6 instead of having a cliffhanger. Either of these solutions would have made the story better in my opinion.
