With spring sports just beginning and state basketball ending on March 14, the last few weeks have been busy for everyone. But, it is even more so for the junior class, which has just weeks to finish preparing for Prom night on April 11 at Rock Creek.
The theme for the 2015 Prom is “Midnight Under the Stars,” featuring the song “Counting Stars” by One Republic. The junior class chose the theme at the beginning of the year, and they have been working on preparing more this semester. They find time to work during advisors and even scheduled work days over Spring Break.
Junior class sponsor Morgan Milham said, “We have been working on and off throughout the whole school year and 40 hours over the past month.”
So far, the juniors have created many stars to fill the whole gym with and have set the floor plan. As far as having work left to do, it is mainly all little details, according to Milham, such as covering the stars in tin foil and creating garland for the ceiling. The main projects left to finish are table and seating decorations.
The main concern for the junior class right now is how much time they have left to finish the work.
“I am concerned about getting everything done in time because we only have a couple of weeks left, and I am starting to get nervous,” junior Rachel Caffrey, who has been working during her free time, said.
Another concern that the junior class took on was not having a very large budget to work with.
Walk-in for Prom will begin at the usual time of 7 p.m., when those attending will exit their vehicles and enter a starry night.
“I am most excited to see all of my friends dressed up and spending a fun night with them,” Caffrey said.
